Who we are

XType is run by The Trustee for TDBM, ABN 60 368 962 309 ("we", "us"). It is part of the XTutio family of products. You can contact us at hello@xtutio.com.

These terms are between you and us. By making an account, joining a waitlist or starting a free trial you agree to them. Please read them first.

What XType is

XType is a typing course for children, with timed speed tests, practice games, certificates and a progress view for parents. It runs on a computer or a tablet with a keyboard.

We do not promise a typing speed or any other result. Practice helps, and how far a child goes depends on the time they spend.

Your account

Give us accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it.

Your XType account is separate from any account you hold with another XTutio product, even if you use the same email address.

Price, free trial and renewal

A subscription to XType costs A$9.99 a month or A$99.90 a year for your whole family. The yearly price is two months free compared with paying monthly. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST; we are registered for GST.

A new account can start a 7-day free trial. You must give a card to start it, and each card can start one free trial for each product. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, we charge the first payment when it ends.

The monthly plan renews every month and the yearly plan renews every year, on the day your first payment was taken, until you cancel. We email you before the trial ends and before a yearly plan renews.

Before you pay we show you the price, how often you are charged, the date the trial ends and the date of the first charge, and nothing extra is ticked for you.

We will tell you by email at least 30 days before any change to the price takes effect for your plan, and you can cancel before it does.

Cancelling and pausing

You can cancel online at any time from your account page, in as few steps as it took to join. You do not need to phone or write to us.

If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for (the month or the year) and are not charged again. If you cancel during the free trial before it ends, you are not charged.

We do not charge a cancellation fee.

Instead of cancelling, you can pause a monthly subscription for 1, 2 or 3 months once the free trial is over. Yearly plans can be cancelled but not paused. Nothing is charged while a plan is paused. Your results are kept, but you cannot open papers or practice until the pause ends, and then the subscription starts again by itself.

Refunds and your rights under Australian law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

Apart from those rights, we do not refund part of a period that has already been paid for. The 7-day free trial is never charged if you cancel before it ends.

Discount codes

After you subscribe to one XTutio product you may be given a code for 20% off another XTutio product for its first 3 months. It applies to monthly plans only, works once and expires 90 days after it is issued. It is the only link between your accounts on different products.

Children and parents

A parent or guardian creates and controls the account and each child's login, and agrees to these terms for the child.

We collect only what we need to run the practice. We do not advertise to children or send them marketing, a child cannot buy anything, and we do not sell personal information.

You can ask us to delete a child's information at any time.

Your XType account is separate from any account you hold with another XTutio product, even if you use the same email address: each product has its own sign-in and its own bill. Children are not identified or tracked in our analytics, and nothing is sold on a child's screen.

Changes and ending

We may change the product and these terms. We will email you at least 30 days before a change that matters to you takes effect. We may close an account that is used to break the law or to harm others, and we will tell you why.

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, and you agree to the courts of New South Wales, but nothing here takes away rights you have under the law of where you live.

Our responsibility

We take care to keep the product working and accurate, and we do not promise it will be free of faults or always available. To the extent the law allows, our liability for a fault is limited to supplying the service again or paying for it to be supplied again. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
